Egg custard like it used to be

For those who love egg custard, this is absolutely wonderful. Easy to prepare and soooo good!

Great substitute for Jello custard mix

I have a recipe for dinner rolls that calls for a box of Jell-O custard. Since they discontinued it, I have not been able to find a reasonable substitute. Since my kids complained at Thanksgiving, I decided to give this one a try. Although it might not be quite as good, as with the Jell-O mix, it is still very close! I am so glad that I found it!

Love love love this custard!

This is the only true egg custard mix I can find ANYWHERE, so I’m thankful for it! It cooks up to be a very smooth custard which, when cooked, gets that “skin” on top, which I love with nutmeg sprinkled on it. It’s not overly sweet…just perfect.Note: when it comes to a boil, it r EXPANDS big time!!! So be sure you are using a pot to allow for it to bubble up 3 times higher than the fluid level!!I pray this custard never goes away!

Closest to discontinued Jello Americana custard

I've tried a lot and this is by far the best. Recent price increase is really high, and going to try to find another source.

A Custard lover's dream!

After Jell-o stopped manufacturing, I had told myself what led to their discontinuing such a fine desert? Years later, I felt the urge to shop Verified. I was glad to see that Green was selling their fine Egg Custard filling. I follow the directions, and do not add eggs nor nutmeg, nor pour this delicious food into a pie. Pour custard into a bowl as I do.

This product filled a void in baking ingredients that i was experiencing.the custard works perfectly in my recipes calling for custard.

Green's is alright. I will try the other reviewers suggestion to throw an egg yolk in. On the negative side, I do get a slight bitter aftertaste. Instead of this, one can buy those little Flan mixes and simply throw out the caramel. i think it rivals Green's.

brought back memories

my aunt was on the hunt for egg custard. Jello used to make it, but no longer do. She literally went to several stores all over town and was very disappointed. Simialar the the discontinued Jello Custard mix

I just made this product and I'm fairly happy with the taste of it. I feel like the Jello Custard mix that is no longer available had a little better flavor but this isn't bad. I added 1 egg yoke as I used to do with the Jello mix and it turned out fine. This mix is easy to make and takes about 1 hour of chilling time to set up.

This mix is delicious. I’ve been looking for a product to replace a childhood favorite made by Jell-O, and this is the closest thing to the Americana Egg Custard mix I have tried to date. I’m ordering more to make egg custard pies for Easter.

This is the closest I could find to my favorite Jell-O brand Americana custard that Jell-O discontinued a couple years ago. If you add one egg yolk (make sure you beat it with a fork a little first), then the custard is a little more solid. It's the best out there, trust me. I make a custart pie with a fruit topping on it and I know good custard. Thanks Green's for having this available to us!
