Marmite Yeast Extract 250g

I was turned on to vegemite by an Australian friend and loved it from the first bite (but I happen to like salty foods, so that aspect doesn’t bother me). It’s been a staple in our home ever since. My daughter tried to like it, but was immediately turned off by it since she went a little too heavy on it her first try so that bad first impression stuck with her— she has tried it a few times since, still isn’t a fanWe recently ran out of vegemite. I came to order more and saw maramite on the list of results. Having friends in areas that maramite is the preferred condiment, I decided to try some of it as well.Shipping was very fast. Ordered both the vegemite and maramite at the same time. The maramite arrived today, the vegemite isn’t expected to be here for a couple more days. I noticed the expiration date nearly a year away.My first impression (though as I mentioned, coming from someone who regularly eats vegemite), I like it. I wasn’t expecting a “really thick syrup” consistency—I’m used to the paste consistency of vegemite. I felt like it was a bit harder to spread evenly on the toast. The flavor was definitely milder than vegemite (might be a good thing to offer my daughter, see if the milder flavor is more to her liking). Still a very satisfying salty goodness on hot buttered toast.

Marmite is a love it or hate it product. I love it. Brilliant on toast, or added to baked beans, sauces, and even scrambled eggs.

For reference, I eat 2 pieces of Vegemite toast every single day.Marmite tastes exactly the same - though with a tiny, and I mean minuscule, hint of sweet scent (only a scent too, no taste). So basically it’s delicious.However, it has the consistency of honey, which makes it somewhat of a pain to handle compared to Vegemite, as you’ll get gooey sticky strings everywhere if you’re not careful. It’s more diluted in taste, so put more onto your toast to achieve the same intensity.At the end of the day, they’re just ultra-salty spreads made from leftover beer stuff. It’s satisfying and delicious. Don’t monitor your sodium intake too much.

Item was as described and arrived as promised.

I add it to anything I cook containing ground beef and it does an excellent job of enhancing its flavor.

I gave it five stars because it did exactly what it's supposed to do. It's well packaged. The labeling is clear. The delivery was fast. I've never had it before and wanted to try it. I'm not quite sure how people eat this because I literally wretched when I put some in my mouth. Maybe it's an acquired taste. I'm not saying the product is bad, I'm just saying that. Very nice flavor for Marmite. Either you will like Marmite or you will think it's vile. I happen to like it, and this jar had a very nice, clean flavor.

It’s not something I’ll use much but it was called for in a recipe I wanted to try, so I bought it.

I’m a fan. An expat living in the states. It’s a real treat for me. Love it on toast. It’s great for a hearty warm drink. Tsp in a cup of boiling water. I also add a tsp in my beef stew.

I am glad I stumbled upon it. Just like aged garlic, it adds a deeper flavor to sauces and soups.

If you like marmite, this is what you need. Small enough jar that it doesn't dry out before you use it up, yet a large enough jar that you can make many delightful sandwiches from it.
